Removing the wall to the Family Room allowed the kitchen to be reconfigured to allow space for the large center island. A high priority was a sandwich preparing zone for 3 sons, which takes place very efficiently between the refrigerator, the island, and the microwave. Skylights and above-cabinet lighting brings ambient light at all times of the day.
